WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AFTER A MICRODERMABRASION AT

Softer, smoother skin

Microdermabrasion evens out skin texture, improve skin tone, and diminishes pore size, revealing skin that is rejuvenated and youthful.

Removal of dead skin cells

As a form of physical exfoliation, microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells and dry, dehydrated skin.

Improvement in acne scars

Because microdermabrasion removes dead skin and promotes the growth of new skin, it also improves acne scars by creating new healthy skin cells.

Minimised fine lines

Microdermabrasion retextures fine lines to reduce their appearance and reveal more youthful, smooth skin.

Enhanced circulation and lymph flow

Aging skin often experiences a lack of circulation, but microdermabrasion increases circulation for more youthful skin.

Revived sense of confidence

With more youthful and glowing skin, you’ll feel more confident and feel like the best version of yourself!

How does microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion works on flaws at the surface level, treating only the outermost layer of skin. Tiny exfoliating crystals are blown onto the skin to gently remove the outer layer. The microderm vacuum removes the crystals and dead skin cells leaving the newer, younger skin cells to be revealed.

Radiance-enhancing microdermabrasion crystals boost your skin’s vitality. A treatment lasts between 20–60 minutes. Afterwards, a treatment masque is applied to increase absorption of nutrients and further smooth the surface layer of the dermis. Treatments leave the skin looking softer and brighter.

Not recommended for active acne on the skin. Please see Peels in Advanced Treatments.

Am I candidate for microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a safe, noninvasive procedure that’s beneficial for all different skin types and conditions. Anyone who is unhappy with their skin texture or has trouble areas like sun damage or acne scarring are perfect candidates for microdermabrasion. If you have active breakouts on your skin, we would recommend trying a peel treatment as an alternative.

Is microdermabrasion painful?

Microdermabrasion should not be confused with dermabrasion, which is an invasive surgical procedure typically performed by dermatologists or plastic surgeons under local or general anesthesia. Microdermabrasion is non-invasive and requires no numbing gels or medicines.

The treated area will be pink and feel dry and tight for about 24 hours. The feeling is similar to sunburn or windburn. You can use a moisturizer, but some types of makeup shouldn’t be applied until 24 hours after the procedure. Your aesthetician will advise you on the best skin care products.

How many treatments will I need?

Many clients see improvements in the tone, texture, and color of treated areas after just one treatment. Since skin typically regenerates at approximately 30-day intervals, many people choose to start with weekly treatments for 3 sessions to clear up the skin, and then switch to a monthly maintenance regimen for long-lasting results.

What is the recovery like after microdermabrasion?

There is no downtime with a microdermabrasion treatment. You can walk out of our office and return to work or resume your normal activities. Your skin will be sensitive, but that’s the extent of the recovery. Within 24 hours, the sensitivity usually dissipates.
